Wispr Flow and Willow both turn speech into finished text, but they aren't built for the same desk. Wispr Flow app runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android and writes paragraphs in any app; its free plan is capped at 2,000 words a week on desktop. Willow's free plan gives unlimited use of a weaker model, plus 20 Scribe uses a week. Pick by how much you dictate.

Set them up side by side

Wispr Flow's cap is a word count, 2,000 a week on desktop. A long writing day can burn through that. Willow's cap is a count of Scribe uses, 20 a week, with the weaker Frontier Mini model unlimited underneath. If you want the detail behind the Wispr Flow figures, we've written the full breakdown in Wispr Flow pricing page.

Dictate paragraphs with Wispr Flow

Wispr Flow types wherever your cursor is, so it works in every app on your computer with no setup or integrations, and it handles over a hundred languages.

What the free plan gives you is a real trial, not a demo. Flow is free and includes dictation and the Notetaker, with generous weekly usage, and you never need a credit card to start. The published cap is 2,000 words a week on desktop, which was read on wisprflow.ai/pricing on 24 October 2026. There are no commitments, and you can cancel anytime.

Our own account data, captured on 25 September 2026, demonstrates the tool's capacity: 1,145,134 words dictated across 144 distinct applications, achieving an average of 113 words per minute over a streak of 27 consecutive days.

The 113 words per minute result is a measure of dictation speed, not final, corrected output. Because the system does not account for re-reading or manual corrections, the actual time savings are less than the 198 hours calculated. The 52 words per minute baseline represents a population average, not the speed of this specific writer.

Use Willow for short commands

One line on that page is worth more than the rest for some buyers: enforced privacy mode with zero data retention. Willow runs on Mac, Windows and iPhone, one platform fewer than Wispr Flow, which also covers Android.

Choose by what you dictate, not by price alone

The Pro prices are identical, so the decision is about usage shape. If you write long prose all day and want dictation that follows your cursor into every application, Wispr Flow is the one built for that, and the 144 applications on our own dashboard for this tool show how far that reach goes. If your dictation comes in short commands and quick replies, and you want the strongest model rationed rather than capped by word count, Willow's 20 Scribe uses a week map onto that pattern more directly.

A third-party ranking, Voice-list, puts it the same way: Willow Voice wins on accuracy, speed and ux; Wispr Flow wins on privacy. We can't verify their testing, but it matches the split we see in the plan structures.

And if you're weighing Wispr Flow against the dictation already on your Mac, we've covered that separately in Wispr Flow vs Siri comparison.

Run both on a client account for a week

Published prices settle the rate. The fit shows up in counted use, and three numbers carry it: words dictated per day with each tool, the number of dictations re-taken before the text is right, and whether the free plan cap survives the seven days. The 113 words per minute and the 144 applications on our dashboard are what that counting produces on one tool over a year; run the same count on both tools, on the same client account, and the comparison becomes a verdict for a specific desk.

This page sits in the cluster in Mac productivity on the same terms: measured first, written second.

Where these numbers come from

What people still ask

Do Wispr Flow and Willow cost the same?

Willow also sells a Business tier at 35 dollars a month, or 28 billed annually, which Wispr Flow answers with its Growth and Enterprise tiers.

What does Willow's free plan include?

You can start without paying, and change or cancel your subscription anytime from the Plan & Billing section in the Willow app.

What is Wispr Flow's free plan limit?

2,000 words a week on desktop, read on wisprflow.ai/pricing on 24 October 2026. The free plan includes dictation and the Notetaker, works on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, and you never need a credit card to start.

Which one should I install on Windows?

Both run on Windows. Wispr Flow also covers iPhone and Android, so it reaches one more platform than Willow, which runs on Mac, Windows and iPhone. If your dictation happens on a phone as well as a desktop, that difference decides it.
