Gong alternative: what we switched to, and what it cost
We run Praiz on client accounts and we left Gong behind.
Praiz On the Praiz page: One month freePraiz replaces Gong on call recording and coaching for a team that does not want a platform rollout. You keep the calls, the snippets and the sharing links — our Praiz setup covers what that looks like in practice. What you give up is the forecasting layer and the CRM write-back, and what you gain is a price you can read on the page before you talk to anyone.
List the Gong features your team actually opens in a week
Before you compare anything, write down which Gong features your team opens in a normal week. On our accounts, the honest list is short: the recording, the transcript, and the snippet you paste into Slack when a rep said something worth keeping. Everything else, deal health scores, forecast rollups, the CRM sync, was something a manager looked at monthly at best. When a client of ours did this exercise properly, they found they were paying for a revenue intelligence platform and using a call recorder.
So the comparison that matters is narrower than the one the ranked pages give you. Praiz covers the recording, the transcript and the coaching loop. It also does not push crm data back into your pipeline tool the way Gong does. If your week runs on calls and coaching, keep going, because the price difference is where this gets interesting.
Read the real cost per rep before you switch
Here is the part where most Gong alternatives articles go quiet, because none of them publish a number. Praiz does. Its pricing page, read on 28 September 2026, shows 30€ per user per month on annual billing, and 40€ per user per month on the monthly option. Both figures are on the page, next to a note that plans start with a minimum of 3 users.
Gong is the opposite. That asymmetry is itself information: one vendor wants you to know the number before the call, the other wants the call to be where the number comes from. For a small team, that difference in posture usually tracks with a difference in contract weight — Gong sells a platform and prices it like one, Praiz sells a seat and prices it like one.
If you want the full walk-through of who publishes a price and who makes you ask, we wrote a separate piece on Gong alternatives for small sales teams that goes vendor by vendor on exactly that question.
Set up Praiz on an existing team in one afternoon
We did not time this to the minute, so I will not give you a number of hours. The call-recording category on this site covers the mechanics. The one test that matters during setup is opening a few recorded calls at random and checking the transcript actually has text in it. An empty transcript renders as a blank summary with no error flag, and that failure mode is silent.
Decide with the question our clients actually asked
When a client asks whether Praiz can replace Gong, the conversation does not come down to a checklist. The one that stuck came from a client who put it like this: "we don't open the deal insights, we open the calls — is that what Praiz is for?" That is the whole question, and it is a better filter than anything a comparison page will give you. If the answer is yes, the archive matters and the review habit is what turns it into coaching. If the answer is no and the team actually lives in the deal insights, no amount of price comparison changes that.
If the answers point toward calls and coaching, Praiz is the smaller, cheaper tool that does that job. If they point toward forecast accuracy and CRM sync, they are not, and no amount of price comparison changes that.
When staying on Gong is the right call
There are teams for whom switching would be a downgrade dressed up as savings. If you run pipeline reviews off deal health scores, if your managers coach from scorecards across the whole team rather than from individual calls, or if the CRM write-back has quietly become part of how your data stays clean, Gong is doing work Praiz does not attempt. The honest framing is not that one tool is better — it is that they are priced and scoped for different jobs, and you should match the tool to the job you actually have. You can read the full breakdown on the Praiz page before deciding either way.
Make the switch without losing your call history
Export what you need before you cancel anything. Gong lets you pull recordings and transcripts out; do it while your account is still live, not after. Then run Praiz on new calls for a week alongside the old archive, and only cancel once the new tool is producing transcripts you have actually spot-checked for empty ones. Export the old recordings first, then run Praiz on new calls for a week and spot-check the transcripts before you cancel Gong.
