What does local recording actually protect against?
Every network problem during the call. The file on each machine is the real recording, and the call quality is only what the participants hear at the time.
Is the free plan usable?
For trying it, yes. Exports carry a watermark and the hours are limited, so anything published runs on a paid tier.
Does it edit as well?
Text-based editing, automatic clips, captions and translation are included on the paid tiers. It is a recording tool that got an editor, and it shows in the best way.
Solo or guests?
Guests. Solo is where a lighter tool wins, because the insurance you are paying for here is about the other person connection.
